Adults For Children is written for every adult who serves children
Whether parent, educator, daycare provider, grandma, coach, or crazy uncle, it will help you take your good intentions For Children and bring them into reality by clarifying what it is children actually need from you.
Adults For Children is a declaration that what children need most from every adult in their life is Home.
Home is any place a child finds belonging and meaning.
The Home For Children consists of twelve rooms, divided into four wings (see contents here). The book walks readers through as the master builders of the familial or communal environments they lead and provides blueprints for that home.
As readers explore rooms-such as the Lounge, where children receive the restful time to process the world, or the Training Yard, where children are led by adults into ever greater freedoms and responsibilities-adults will receive clarity for the essentials in each home.
Armed with understanding behind the purpose and necessity of each room, practical steps will then be given to inspire unique and creative building or remodeling of each room within each individual environment to truly create “Home.”
People wanted a practical take on my prior book.
People felt inspired, but didn’t know exactly what to do next.
My last book, Growing Up, Not Out, was enjoyed by readers, but I consistently received feedback that it wasn’t practical enough. Adults For Children started as the practical companion book. Seeing modern adults who are too quick to want “experts” to tell them what to do, I began it reluctantly. Even the best practical parenting or teaching advice is incomplete and unhelpful if the folks administering it don’t have vision for why they are doing it.
As writing progressed, I grew more excited. I found a way to assist adults to cut through the noise of all the “experts” (including myself) by providing Adults For Children one clear objective: build "home." This is our anchoring mission, and with this book I have defined what such a home requires to support children as they grow, while leaving the essential work of creativity and construction to you, the very capable adult entrusted with the children you serve. Within that founding framework, I have been able to load on the practical steps and building advice without concern that either the reader or myself will think such advice is preeminent.
Every child needs a place to belong and find meaning.
You are the adult in their lives to give it to them.
As the world gets more connected, the noise of experts, media, government, and advertisements gets louder and the options more multitudinous.
With so many options, many adults are losing sight of the essential.
Home will never grow obsolete. It is the forever answer. The future of the children you serve and the future of the world depends on responsible adults like you and I ensuring Home happens in the modern world in whatever place we have influence.
Adults For Children will provide you clarity, which leads to confidence and peace.
Peaceful environments are homes children both excel and rest.
Armed with vision and skills, you will be able to confidently continue the building process you have already begun.
This book will help you identify the practices in your own life and environment which are either superfluous or unhelpful and thus need to go. It will also help you know where your current “Home” really needs an addition.
In the end, this book will help you provide a legacy to those children you can be proud of because you built it on purpose. Where children find belonging and meaning they stay, they imitate, and they continue to build. The good work you do for them will be grown as they expand upon your work for the next generation, on and on, until the world itself comes and becomes the true Home we all long for it to be.

About the Class
Adults For Children is not a quick fix solution.
Support, accountability, and encouragement as you build and remodel your "home."
As one reader put it, “This book is a demand for a total life change.” I would say instead, “This book is a demand for a lifelong building process.”
Your building process will require intentionality and time, which is why we have created a yearlong Home Makeover.
Together, people can have the support of mentors but also other families going through the same hard work and process of establishing each room of the home For Children. Feel empowered with the communal support without feeling alone or overwhelmed in this great responsibility and privilege. We see it as a springboard for families into confidence to establish a lifelong process of growth in continuously improving your home environment.
One school-year's worth of support
This class will require your time and energy, but only as much as you desire to put into it.
We will provide much for you throughout the 2021-2022 school year-from teachings, discussions, get-togethers, and additional resources to practice, implement, and construct .
The six-week class will run from October-November and will cover the book Adults For Children to give a general overview of what a home for children contains.
You will then receive a mentoring meeting with just your family before the New Year to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your current home and the specific goals to improve your home pertaining to your specific family for the 2022 year.
January-May you will receive curriculum to assist you in all areas of home, but will be able to be personalized to assist you in achieving your specific goals set. Also during this time will be various meet-ups you can choose to attend as interested for further community discussion, encouragement, and support.
All of this is to equip you with the confidence and the practice to continue to lead your families and home into new growth year-after-year.
What price would you pay for clarity, confidence, and connection in your home?
We want to invest in our children, and adults are investing in so many ways: gifts, gadgets, opportunities, and experiences. We want our children to have the best of the best! At the end of the day, this class is the best investment you could make for your entire family.
You reaching your potential as a leader and investing in your "home" environment will propel children farther than you can imagine and set them up for success and impact.
In the work world, people see the necessity of "professional development," and spend bunches of money toward the end of building up their employees because it is best for their business.
This is an opportunity for your "personal development" toward the end of "home development."
Find the clarity and confidence to create a legacy and provide a refuge. Pursue the hope, wonder, freedom, and dreams we all long to have in our lives. Gift that to the children in your environment. And then when the gifts, gadgets, opportunities, and experiences we want them to have do come, they will be ready to receive them and use them to grow themselves, their community, and their world toward ever increasing goodness.
With a $1,000 investment, you can build a brighter future for yourself and the children you serve. But that is only the monetary investment, and probably the easiest of the investments needed in building a home for children. It will take time, thought, energy, and commitment.
And with these investments, you will find fuller life through greater peace, deeper connection, and increased confidence in leading through conflict which impact all those within your home and will spread out to everywhere you go.

Andrew Wiens
A man with a vision.
Andrew believes it is possible to equip a generation of adult leaders in families and the community to lead homes where every child will find belonging and meaning.
In Renaissance Europe, a few folks were given the resources and time to do art, invention, and philosophy really well. The modern world has positioned millions to enter into what might be thought of as a Relational Renaissance.
Will you be a part of the generation who take the privileged opportunity to do the most important work of family within the home and community better than it has ever been done before?
